What an honor to work alongside a super talented photographer three times in a month!!  I was lucky to work with Augie Chang again on an engagement shoot in Livemore near Martinelli Event Center.  The couple both loved cowboy boots, check out these awesome images.

San Francisco Engagement Shoot

I had the pleasure of beautifying Marta for her engagement shoot in San Francisco with one of my favorite photographers Augie Chang. Marta is a model like natural beauty so enhancing that was an easy task!  I used peaches and nude tones and accentuated her eyes with lots of individual lashes.  I stay with my brides for the entire shoot and love the process of watching them goof around in front of the camera!  Although it started raining, touch up was minimal.  Enjoy these gorgeous images!

We were FEATURED on Style Unveiled!

I was ecstatic to find out that JBeautique has been featured on Style Unveiled Premier Wedding Planning Website not once but twice!  The first wedding featured was from August of last year at Villa Montalvo in Saratoga, CA. EJ and Linh were highschool sweethearts that have been dating for 10 years before finally deciding to tie the knot.  They did a superb job in picking all the beautiful details of this wedding, from the green and chocolate theme colors to finding the perfect vendors to execute their vision of their special day.

The second wedding that was featured was from October of last year at Julia Morgan Ballroom in the Merchant Exchange Building in San Francisco.  Amanda and Steve's wedding had all the great cultural details that reflect who they were and made their wedding extra special.  The wedding theme color was burgundy and it was carried through out in a tasteful manner.  They had a special 5 lions dance when Steven received Amanda at her house.  You may view Amanda & Steven's wedding on the link below.

AMANDA & STEVEN'S WEDDING AT JULIA MORGAN BALLROOM

Amanda + Steven from Phillip V on Vimeo.

Amanda came to me with many photos and ideas for styling her hair for her wedding day, I'm so glad she did because we were able to incorporate most of the styles she liked (low chignon, lots of volume in the front with bangs all swept back, lots of textures on the side and in the back) into the final design.  Amanda's hair is naturally very straight and super thick,  I had to give her hair lots of curls in order to create the details that she liked.  Her hair lasted beautifully despite being in the rain and through lots of shaking and dancing (as seen in the video).  I gave her burgundy highlights the week before her wedding to make the details of the style more dimensional instead of looking like one dark bundle of hair. I always recommend dark haired brides to consider getting highlights before the wedding for that reason.
Because Amanda is used to wearing makeup on a daily basis, she wanted a more dramatic look for her wedding.  I blended grays and plums for a smokey effect that suits Amanda's skin tones. Amanda's bridal party and herself were all very happy with the looks I created for them and I couldn't be happier for her and Steven.  Congratulations Amanda!  I can't wait to see photos of this wedding from talented Kevin Chin of Kevin Chin Photography.

HILARY DUFF'S WEDDING UP-DO

Pop star and actress Hilary Duff married pro hockey player Mike Comrie in a lavish ceremony in Santa Barbara on 8/14.  I love her bouffant hairstyle, it complemented her Vera Wang gown perfectly.  Her soft makeup suited her skin tone and casted a beautiful glow.  I was also impressed by her choice of flowers for her bouquet, pink and peach dahlias (never imagine celebrity would pick dahlias), which seems so casual yet sweet at the same time.

KELLY & LOUIS'S WEDDING

I had the pleasure of beautifying Kelly for her wedding day and we had so much fun.  Kelly had just moved to the states and had chosen San Francisco as her destination wedding spot.  She wasn't your typical bride who knew exactly how she wanted to look on her wedding day.  Instead, she wanted me to design a look for her, which I was more than happy to.  I started off by asking her what she didn't like and through this process of elimination, I was able to create a look that she loved.

Jill Stuart Cosmetics

Since it's first debut in 2005, Jill Stuart has become one of my favorite brands of cosmetics.  With its feminine, playful yet elegant design and packaging, to its array of shimmery color collection, it has capture the hearts of many cosmetics lovers around the world.  It was love at first sight when I first spotted this line at a Japanese department store back in 2005.  Some of my favorite products from this line are the Eye Jellies (sparkly water based eye colors that don't crease on your lids like creme products do), Lip Luster (which is a lipgloss and lipstick combination that gives more color than a gloss and isn't sticky), and I absolutely love their quad eyeshadows.  But this is not a line for people opting for a matte, natural finish because every product has sparkles and shimmer.  While I was on vacation in Hong Kong last month, Jill Stuart cosmetics launched a bridal line which included a handheld mirror decorated with flowers, shimmery creme eyeshadow pencils in 4 colors and a nail set with a ring pillow and nail decorations stickers.  Picture of the flagship boutique at the Hong Kong Times Square Mall.

Spring Makeup Trends

This spring it is not about bright and playful colors as one might expect but lots of nudes, golds and pastels. I personally LOVE nudes and golden tones as they are very versatile in creating different looks. When applied lightly, it gives off an aura of goddess-ness and by increasing the intensity, the look can be easily transformed into absolute sexiness. Here are some of my favorite spring looks!

The Wedding of Elaine & Edmond

When Elaine's sister in law first contacted me about being Elaine's stylist for her wedding day a month before the wedding, she had already warned me, "Elaine never wears makeup and she's just had a haircut so her hair is quite short. But she would like an up-do and very, very natural makeup." I took the advice to heart and gave her a very natural look, without using any shimmer to the eyes but opted for natural highlights throughout her face. I dusted a highlighter on top of her cheekbones, brow bones, bridge of her nose and chin. I'm glad that she and the groom were both very satisfied with the results.

Miss Yosemite Valley 2010

I had the pleasure of working with Jasmine N. in December on a photo shoot and I was so excited and honored when she asked me to be one of her sponsor for the Miss Yosemite Valley pageant. I started with coloring her hair to a honey blonde 3 weeks before the pageant. On the week of the pageant, we collaborated on creating different looks for her outfits at her Stanford dorm room. We started off the day of with a casual business look for her interview. I put Stila's Launey and Sun eyeshadow for her eyes and individual lashes to make them bigger but not too dramatic. Instead of a blush, I chose a bronzer for her cheeks and the color looked fantastic on her. After her initial interview, we let her hair down and created soft big waves and added more shadow and lashes for an on stage look. I added a dark brown shadow on the crease and a white shadow under the brow bone for highlighting. I finished her look with a dust of Guerlain's Meteorites Powder. She looked amazing but more importantly, her performance for the night was stunning. For her talent category, she played Vivaldi's Four Seasons: Summer 3rd Mvt. on the violin and you can hear her passion coming through the music. I was so proud when she was crowned Miss Yosemite Valley 2010. Next, Miss California 2010, here we come!

San Francisco Wedding Fair @ The Four Seasons

I started off the new year exhibiting at the San Francisco Wedding Fair at The Four Seasons Hotel in San Francisco. It was the ultimate bridal show with 75 exhibits showcasing the elite of Bay Area professionals. I had so much fun designing and setting up for the show but the best part was meeting all the brides-to-be. Talking with and getting to know each bride has always been one of the most enjoyable part of my business. I'm looking forward to a great year ahead and cheers to all the attendees for coming to the wedding fair.
